For whatever reason, there have been a record number of blowouts in the 2016 playoffs. Typically, when a team gets off to a hot start, that’s the tone for the game and the opposition does not mount a serious comeback. That was the case for Golden State last night.
But in the first half of that game, the Warriors suffered a scare to one of their best players. Klay Thompson left the game briefly in the first half with a left thigh contusion. Timofey Mozgov was setting a screen on Klay and kneed Klay right in the thigh. It looked painful.
Klay returned to finish the game, but was asked about the play after the game. He feels it was a dirty play by Mozgov.
“I didn’t get it. I don’t know. I’m guarding Kyrie, running full speed downhill. I just don’t know who is trying to set a pick on me in the middle of the key,” Thompson said. “If it’s on the perimeter, I understand. But didn’t make sense to me.”
“It seemed kind of dirty to me,” Thompson said. “He stuck his knee out too, but, you know what, that’s basketball.”
