Before game 3 tipped off in the Air Canada Centre, Dwyane Wade made headlines for all the wrong reasons. While the Canadian national anthem was being sung, Wade was still taking practice shots. Rightfully so, he was criticized for this.
At first Wade dismissed the entire ordeal in an interesting fashion. He didn’t exactly apologize, but rather, he was trying to convince people that he’s not a disrespectful person. He’s right: from the Wade that we know, he’s generally not a disrespectful person and a nice guy. But his acts was unintentionally disrespectful.
Yesterday, he decided to offer a real apology this time.
“No disrespect at all from me,” he said. “I apologize for Canada thinking that I would disrespect them as a country.”
“I have so much respect for the Toronto Raptors, obviously, and I have respect for the country of Canada,” he added.
