Yesterday, the league fined Stan Van Gundy for basically suggesting that LeBron can do what he wants on the court and the refs will allow him. For his comments, during an in-game interview on national TV, no less, Van Gundy was fined $25,000.
Naturally, reported swarmed to ask LeBron for his reaction to the Pistons coach’s remarks. As he usually tends to do, LeBron took the high road and decided no to exchange words. As much as people have taken shots at him throughout his career, LeBron seldom takes the bait and responds in a controversial manner. It speaks to his maturity, but sometimes you almost wish he’d stir the pot a bit. It will be interesting to see how aggressive he comes out in game 2 as result of all of this.
“I think it’s a non-issue,” James said. “He’s gonna say what he has to say to get an advantage for his team, but at the end of the day, the game is played in between the four lines and that’s all that matters.
“Listen, I’m 31 years old, man. I don’t get caught up in no shenanigans.”
