Metta World Peace turns 37 in a few weeks. So on a team like the Lakers, he’s merely there to help guide the youngsters. He has played in 23 games this season, but feels like he has much more left in the tank.
He will be a free agent this summer and wants to hang around in the NBA a few more season. Physically, he probably does still have something to give a team. He has never been super-athletic, and defense and toughness has been his trademark, so in that regard it prolongs his career. But of course, he has to find a team willing to sign him.
“I still want to get in the playoffs again. I want to do a couple more years,” the Lakers forward said Tuesday. “This year I didn’t play much so I kind of saved myself. I’m going to come back next year strong….
