How sick was Draymond Green before the Golden State Warriors’ Monday night victory over the Orlando Magic?
Really sick.
From ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne:
How sick was Draymond Green on Monday? He told ESPN after the game he had strep throat and will be on antibiotics for 14 days. Had to get an IV before the game because his throat was so sore he couldn’t really drink fluids.
Being sick and working is the worst. I’m battling the flu right now, and writing this is torture. I can only imagine how Green labored through 90 minutes of NBA basketball while fighting the natural urge to keel over and sleep that comes with strep throat.
Now, Green did finish with only one point and seven turnovers. But he also pitched in nine rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and three blocks. So while he was far from at the top of his game, the effort level was there, as were many of his numbers.
No, this won’t go down in history as the latest Michael Jordan flu game. But if the Warriors end up winning only 73 games, beating out the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls by only one victory, it’s moments like this we can look to—a win that could have been a potential loss had Green not suited up.
