Carmelo Anthony Subtweets Former Knicks Teammate Ama’re Stoudemire (We Think)

Carmelo Anthony has this whole subtweeting thing down pat.

We think.

Former New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire, now of the Miami Heat, raised eyebrows when discussing Jeremy Lin’s short burst of success in the Big Apple. Here’s what rattled the cages, per ESPN.com’s Ohm Youngmisuk:

Amar’e Stoudemire had this interesting comment on Jeremy Lin’s Knicks tenure: “If he stayed it would’ve been cool. But everyone wasn’t a fan of him being the new star. So he didn’t stay long. But Jeremy was a great, great guy. Great teammate. He put the work in and we’re proud of him to have his moment. A lot of times you gotta enjoy someone’s success. And that wasn’t the case for us during that stretch.”

Carmelo Anthony’s ears must have been burning, even if he didn’t know why.

Though he never officially admitted that STAT was referencing him, Melo did post a series of odd, seemingly thinly veiled tweets:

Aren’t you glad we’re possibly rehashing years-old NBA beefs that may or may not have existed?

This just needs to die. Even if Melo did provide pushback on Lin’s reign, the point guard never turned into the second coming of Chris Paul or something. Melo is a different player now, and the Knicks are paying for all their transgressions—not just the treatment of a middling floor general who experienced a protracted stretch of otherworldly success.

Here’s to few subtweeting expeditions in the Big Apple in the not-too-distant future.
