Tim Duncan is not here for your feelings and emotions. He’s here to win games for the San Antonio Spurs. That was never more evident to his response to whether or not he got emotional when he faced Kobe Bryant for the final time.
Spurs center Tim Duncan isn’t sad he played Kobe Bryant for the last time (Friday.) […] In fact, Duncan, in his 19th NBA season, said after the game that he felt “no emotions” at all.
“I’m here to play a game and win a game. I’m not worried about that stuff,” Duncan said when asked what it was like to face Bryant a final time. “He’s a great competitor over the years, but this wasn’t about him. It was about us trying to get back on track.”
This reaction isn’t surprising at all, from Duncan. And perhaps, it’s a sign that players are growing tired of the Kobe farewell tour. A player of Kobe’s stature is certainly deserving of this tour, but it’s easy to see how opposing players can be tuned out. That probably played into Duncan’s response. But aside from that, the reaction was very Tim Duncan nonetheless.
