Al Jefferson recently had to serve a 5-game suspension for violating the league’s drug policy and his nightmare season is continuing. The underrated big man will now be out 6 weeks following knee surgery.
The Hornets are 17-14 and will probably battle for that 8th seed in the east all year long. Given the fact Jefferson has only played 19 games this year and the team has managed to remain above water, that’s a good sign for when he actually returns.
Charlotte Hornets center Al Jefferson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today to address a tear in the lateral meniscus of his right knee. The procedure was completed by Hornets Team Physician Dr. Marcus Cook at Novant Orthopedic Hospital in Charlotte. Jefferson’s recovery and rehabilitation is expected to take approximately six weeks.
