Melo Says Porzingis Will Lead Knicks Once He’s Retired

Carmelo Anthony Kristaps Porzingis

New York City is big enough for more than one star and Carmelo Anthony seems to be embracing that. Rather than becoming jealous of Kristaps Porzingis’ newfound fame in the Big Apple, Melo sounds happy to team up with the rookie. He’s also aware that this will be Porzingis’ team when he decides to hang them up.

Anthony, who has four years left on his contract, recently told confidants about Porzingis: “He’s gonna lead this organization long after I’m retired. Hopefully we can hoist one or two [championship trophies] before that happens.’’

The future is bright for the Knicks, but there’s still work to do. Porzingis is talented, but still very wet behind the ears. And the roster still needs to tweaking. But the foundation should appear more attractive to free agents now.
