Anthony Bennett may be running out of NBA chances. The former #1 overall pick hasn’t come anywhere close to being the player most scouts thought he’d be and the Minnesota Timberwolves apparently aren’t interesting in waiting around to see if that will ever happen.
The team is reportedly in talks to buy out Bennett’s contract, which will make him a free agent. That would make two teams who has tried their luck with Bennett in as many years with no luck. Makes you wonder how eager other teams will be. Sure, he’ll probably land somewhere but expectations are definitely tempered at this point.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are progressing on a contract buyout with former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett after failing to find a trade partner to unload him, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Bennett’s reps have been eager for a contract buyout to allow him the chance for greater playing time, league sources said. The Timberwolves have a deep frontcourt, and there is little, if any, future for him with the franchise.
