Brandon Jennings “Not Close” to Returning

Brandon Jennings tore his Achilles in January and was expected to be out 6 to 9 months. Then the Pistons went out and acquired Reggie Jackson and gave him $80 million.

If everyone’s healthy at the start of the season, it’s unclear who will start at PG for the Pistons. But based on this update on Jennings’ recovery, it doesn’t sound that he’ll be available.

Jennings is “not close” to being cleared, according to a source. He is currently shooting and running on a treadmill at 60 percent of his body weight, but the Pistons need to be able to see him run, cut and shoot off of one leg before he’s cleared to even begin non-contact drills on court.
