While the Air Jordan 9 is either loved or hated by Retro fans, this new colorway is very hard to deny.
Officially known as the ‘Anthracite’ Air Jordan IX (9), this colorway release is apart of the Air Jordan Remastered collection which means that it is said to be constructed from upgraded materials not usually used on Jordans. Another feature is all the lace-loops are fully molded unlike previous Air Jordan 9 Retros with the cost-effective shortcut of not having the bottom one meld into the sneaker.
Michael Jordan never wore the Jordan 9 when it originally released because in 1994 he was still in his first retirement from the NBA. He would, however, lace up this model during its first Retro re-release in 2002 as a member of the Washington Wizards.
If you think this colorway looks familiar than you are right (and have a keen eye for detail & high retention for random Air Jordan Retros) as this exact sneaker was first seen as a Player Exclusive for Oregon State University back in 2012.
The ‘Anthracite’ Air Jordan IX (9) Retro releases on Saturday, September 5th for $190.
