Sneaker colorway stories have become one of the most contrived parts of the culture; often times feeling very forced. This latest Jordan 9 however has amazing inspiration.
For ‘The Spirit’ Air Jordan 9 Retro, the story behind the colorway is a good one. In front of the United Center where the Chicago Bulls play, a statue of Michael Jordan was errected in 1993 to commemorate the Bulls first three-peat. Said statue also went up during a time where Michael Jordan retired from basketball for the first time.
What is ironic is that the statue is wearing the Air Jordan 9; something that Michael Jordan didn’t do since he was retired during the season those Jordans originally released.
On Saturday, August 22nd, ‘The Spirit’ Air Jordan IX (9) Retro [302370-109] releases for $190 at most Air Jordan Retro retailers.
