For the second year in a row, the Lakers are in the lottery which is not a familiar place for the fanbase. Last year, they selected Julius Randle 7th overall, only to lose him to a broken leg in the first game.
This year they reportedly have their sights set on Duke’s Jahlil Okafor. But in actuality, they’ll take whoever (Okafor or Towns) Minnesota doesn’t.
The Lakers are going through the motions with other draft prospects—D’Angelo Russell and Emmanuel Mudiay have been in for workouts—but multiple league sources say L.A. is locked in on Okafor. Despite being overtaken by Towns, scouts still see Okafor as a franchise center—one with an enormous upside.
