It’s official: Kevin Durant’s season is over, the Thunder confirm. Hampered by a broken foot before the season began, Durant was barely able to see the floor this season. This is for the better because even if OKC were to get into the playoffs as an 8 seed, they’ll be bounced early.
So this means Russell Westbrook can continue to experience what it would be like to be “the man” on his team, which I’m sure he loves.
Reigning MVP Kevin Durant will have bone graft surgery next week to deal with a fractured bone in his right foot, and he will miss the rest of the season, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced Friday.
Durant had surgery on a broken bone in his right foot in October. He had been healing well, but in late February, he had a procedure to replace a screw that was rubbing up against another bone and causing discomfort. At the time, the Thunder expected him to be able to return in one to two weeks.
The Thunder say that Kevin Durant (foot) will have season-ending surgery and will be back to basketball activities in 4-6 months.
