Derrick Rose’s return this season seems more likely with each passing day. Yesterday, he returned to full contact practice for the Bulls, although there’s no timetable for his return.
For a guy like Rose, this news is huge. Historically, he took a bad rap for his unwillingness to come back early from injury but maybe he feels like there’s no time for that any longer.
Rose, on track to return in the four- to six-week timeline offered by team physicians and officials, scrimmaged full court for two 10-minute sessions. The games were four-on-four because Pau Gasol, Mike Dunleavy, Aaron Brooks and Kirk Hinrich were excused as part of a rest-and-maintenance day.
“He was aggressive,” coach Tom Thibodeau said of Rose. “He was a little winded, but we expected that. Overall, I thought it was good. He said he feels good physically. The big thing is going to be the wind and conditioning. He’s been out a long time.”
