Nuggets PG Ty Lawson was arrested for suspicion of DUI in the wee hours of the morning on Friday. Lawson apparently was leaving a team-organized community event at a bowling alley. Lawson was also cited for a similar charge back in 2008.
Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI Friday morning.
Denver Police say he was arrested at 1:19 a.m. in the 3400 block of Park Avenue West after reportedly going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone.
The arresting officer clocked Lawson on his radar as going 61 mph.
“Upon contact, [Lawson] stated he had consumed alcohol prior to driving,” the probable cause document says.
The arresting officer claimed Lawson’s speech was slurred, breath had a strong odor of alcohol, he was swaying and his eyes were bloodshot.
He consented to a field sobriety test, which he failed according to the officer. He refused a chemical test.
