With the firing of Kings coach Mike Malone coming as a surprise, naturally there’s already talk about who will replace him. As of right now, Tyrone Corbin is taking over on an interim basis but it sounds as if the team will still look for another coach.
George Karl sounds as if he’s very interested in taking over if the Kings are interested. Karl is never a bad choice, but the trend lately has been to hire a head coach with zero coaching experience. Let’s see how this all shakes out.
NBA coaching sources have identified ESPN analyst George Karl as a serious target of the Kings to replace Malone in the long term, thanks in part to his association with Sacramento general manager Pete D’Alessandro from their days working together in Denver.
“I’m humbled,” Karl told SiriusXM radio. “If they’re interested in me, I’m interested in them.”
