Mark Cuban Wonders if the Thunder Should Tank the Season

Cuban Thinks Thunder Should Tank SeasonMark Cuban has never been one to bite his tongue, so why start now? Due to the number of injuries that the OKC Thunder have have to deal with so far in the season, Cuban feels it’s in their best interest to tank in order to get a top draft pick.

On it’s face, this reminds me of how the Spurs landed Tim Duncan. If you recall, the Spurs were a dominant team in the West, then David Robinson got hurt and they were dreadful for a year. Then they got Tim Duncan with the first pick and haven’t looked back. Is that in OKC’s future?

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban openly wondered Sunday whether it would be in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s long-term best interests if superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook sat out the rest of the season.

Cuban said he would not consider it a breach of NBA integrity if the Thunder essentially bagged this season to improve their odds of winning a title in the near future.

“The question I don’t think anybody has asked is, why don’t they pull a David Robinson and try to get Tim Duncan?” Cuban said, speaking before the Mavericks hosted the Miami Heat.

“We already specialize in a race to the bottom,” Cuban said. “More participants won’t change anything. They’re all high-profile participants.”
