We are on the brink of a major shakeup with the Knicks. A few months from now, the roster may look completely different than it does now. That includes Carmelo Anthony, of course. But the coaching situation may look different too. Mike Woodson has been reportedly on the hot seat practically the entire season, but it makes no sense to fire him now.
According to ESPN via NY Daily News, the Knicks met with Phil Jackson a few weeks ago about replacing Mike Woodson. Phil Jackson has stated numerous times that he’s done coaching. We should start taking him for his word on this.
ESPN reported that Knicks president Steve Mills met with Jackson two weeks ago about replacing Mike Woodson, but that Jackson reiterated that he is not interested in coaching. In 1999, former MSG President Dave Checketts met with Jackson during the season and later issued a public apology for pursing Jackson while Jeff Van Gundy was under contract.
