With the city of New Orleans not having the same space ties as Orlando and Houston, Nike will go away from their infamous Galaxy theme in favor of playing off of a fictional NOLA Gumbo basketball league.
Just as alligators kind of serve as protection in New Orleans culture, the LeBron XI ‘Gator King’ features glow-in-the-dark patterns on the white Hyperposite panels. The regal purples, greens, and golds work as a nod to the Rex; carnival celebrations king.
Even without Kobe Bryant participating, Nike will complete their All-Star sneaker trifecta with a new (and Elite) version of the Kobe 9. Just as the All Star LeBron 11 has, there are hidden glow-in-the-dark designs on the upper.
Kevin Durant will take the Smoothie King Arena (real name) in the ‘Illusion’ KD 6 during the NBA All Star Game in New Orleans this year. The glowing sole is said to represent the ‘spark’ seen in Durant’s game.
Nike releases the ‘Maestro’ Kobe 9 Elite, ‘Gator King’ LeBron 11, and ‘Illusion’ KD 6 on February 14th. All three All Star Weekend-themed sneakers come with a faux tarot card.
NIKE LEBRON XI(11) – ‘GATOR KING’
NIKE KD VI(6) – ‘ILLUSION’
NIKE KOBE IX(9) ELITE – ‘MAESTRO’
