When the Knicks signed Carmelo Anthony, and during Linsanity, you had to take out a loan in order to afford tickets. But now that there’s not much hype surrounding the team, coupled with their 9-game losing streak, ticket prices are plummeting.
Same goes for Nets who aren’t doing much better. What a difference a year makes.
On Thursday night, the Knicks and Nets will meet at Barclays Center, the first of four meetings in what was supposed to be an electric New York City rivalry.
However, both teams have gotten off to rough starts, taking some of the spice out of the matchup.
The ice-cold Knicks — losers of nine straight — are tied with the Bucks for the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 3-13.
Across the East River, the Nets sit just ahead of the Knicks in the standings at 5-12 and already own a five-game losing streak.
As a result, the price of tickets to Thursday’s game is plummeting, as well as tickets to other Knicks and Nets games.
“Ticket prices tend to drop towards game time, [but] it definitely has a lot to do with the play on the court,” Chris Matcovich, vice president of data and communications for TiqIQ, told The Post.
