To some it’s still hard to fathom that Rasheed Wallace, the NBA’s all time leader in technical fouls, is now an up-and-coming assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons, but its a proven fact that Rasheed was arguably one of the most talented and versatile big men of his generation.
Standing 6’11, he was capable of playing both inside and out on the perimeter in addition to playing lock-down defense. His volatile temper sometimes got him in trouble but it also was a key intimidation factor on his opponents.
He was selected to appear in 4 NBA All Star Games and was a key member of the Pistons during their 2004 NBA Title run.
Wallace played in only 21 games last season for the New York Knicks due to a broken foot and eventually decided to call it a career after more than 1100 games over 16 seasons.
That was until new Pistons coach Mo Cheeks decided to add Sheed to his coaching staff to help aid in the development of the team’s budding superstar frontcourt of Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond.
Another of Detroit’s talented and young forward Tony Mitchell decided to challenge Sheed to an impromptu dunk contest during some downtime in practice over the weekend.
As one could imagine, the 39 year old Wallace accepted the challenge and barely pulled off a reverse jam in comical fashion while the 21 year old Mitchell nearly tore the rim off with a vicious windmill…
