50 Yr Old Chris Mullin Can Still Shoot The Rock, Goes 14-15 At Kings Practice

It appears as if the Sacramento Kings are finally growing tired of their losing ways, switching things up by clearing the roster and bringing in some experience in the front office in the form of part owner Shaquille O’Neal and advisor Chris Mullin.

While Shaq’s buy-in on the franchise he once called the “Sacramento Queens” made the biggest splash in the media, the hiring of Hall of Fame guard Chris Mullin may pay more immediate dividends when it comes to hands on training, starting with this past week’s training camp on the UCSB campus.

No doubt, Shaq was brought in in part to help mentor newly maxed out big man DeMarcus Cousins, but the sharpshooting Mullin, one of the best shooters of all time, could be key in helping the Kings’ young backcourt like Jimmer Fredette, Ben McLemore, and Isaiah Thomas, quickly speed up the process of learning the ins-and-outs of being a true professional at the highest level.

Mullin possesses quite the resume as a former 5 time NBA All Star and contributing member of the original 1992 Dream Team, but many forget just how prolific of a shooter Mullin was as a key cog on those Run TMC(Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin) Golden State Warriors teams in the late 80’s, then as a veteran shooter on some very good Reggie Miller led Indiana Pacer teams in the late 90’s.

Although Chris doesn’t look much different from his playing days, which ended back in 2001, the now 50 year old executive decided to help out new head coach Mike Malone during a recent lull at training camp.

Chris must have been inspired by the impressive 3 point shooting of Jimmer Fredette(10-15) and DeMarcus Cousins(9-15) from behind the arc, so he decided to hit the floor running to show what he’s still got.

Entering as the older version of Billy Hoyle from “White Man Can’t Jump”, Mullin did a few stretches before scorching the nets to the tune of sinking 14 of 15 shots from behind the arc, delighting the fans in attendance and opening the eyes of players nearby like rookie Ben McLemore, Fredette, and Cousins….
