Dennis Rodman May Return to North Korea to Rescue Kenneth Bae

Dennis Rodman never ceases to amaze. The Hall of Famer has more or less completely distanced himself from the game of basketball, because every time he’s in the news it has nothing to do with the game.

For his next act, Rodman may make a triumphant return to North Korea. You remember the last time he was there, when the people responded to him ‘positively’ at a Globetrotters game. This time he’s interested in working towards the release of American missionary, Kenneth Bae.

Let’s not put anything past Rodman. There’s isn’t much he can’t do if he asserts himself. Just look at how he went after rebounds. But this is Rodman for you.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, Dennis Rodman hinted that he may soon return to North Korea in order to push for the release of American missionary Kenneth Bae.

Bae was imprisoned in May for “crimes aimed to topple the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea”. At the time, Rodman called on Twitter for North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un to “do me a solid and cut Kenneth Bae loose”.

His Twitter diplomacy having failed, and apparently over his reticence on talking about North Korea, Rodman hinted to the Huffington Post’s Marc Lamont Hill that he may soon return to the country and personally lobby for Bae’s release.

“I gave [Kim Jong-un] a great indication of when I’m going to Beijing soon – that’s just a hop, skip and a jump from North Korea. So basically, you know, I’m pretty sure I’ll be talking to him soon,” Rodman told Hill.

“I will definitely ask for Kenneth Bae’s release,” he said. “I will say, ‘Marshal, why is this guy held hostage?’ I could try and soften it up in that way.”
