Pistons Interested in Trading For Rajon Rondo

The Boston Celtics have been completely dismantled from top to bottom, and the only mainstay is Rajon Rondo who is coming off an ACL tear. Rondo has been rumored to be a difficult teammate and he has admitted to being difficult to coach. It will be interesting to see how he fairs with rookie NBA head coach Brad Stevens.

Ever since Pierce and Garnett were traded, it has been rumored that Rondo would be next because he likely will not be happy with the situation. So far, he has said all the right things, but teams are still interested in the injured PG, such as Detroit who is quietly assembling a nice team.

Rajon Rondo remains the lone player from the 2007-08 championship team, and Danny Ainge has said that he’s not in the business of trading Rondo. But Ainge wouldn’t say no to an offer he thinks is fair for Rondo.

The Boston Globe reports that the Pistons are interested in Rondo, but what they want to give up for him isn’t going to be enough. The Globe reports the Pistons want Rondo in return for Brandon Knight and an expiring contract. The move would certainly make the Celtics worse in the short run – which would improve their chances of landing a top pick in the 2014 NBA Draft – but trading Rondo away for that package would be quite the clearance sale.
