Andrei Kirilenko Signs With Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets just added a nice bench, complimentary player in Andrei Kirilenko. However, in doing so, they’ve added to their already unprecedented luxury tax bill but that doesn’t seem to bother owner Mikhail Prokhorov.

Kirilenko will be the Nets mini-mid level exception player and actually took less money to play in Brooklyn. He could’ve made more if he stayed in Minny. Let’s see if that proves to be a wise decision.

Andrei Kirilenko, a player so versatile that he is frequently likened to a Swiss Army knife, agreed to terms on a two-year contract, according to multiple people with knowledge of the deal. He will make $3.18 million next season and holds a player option for 2014-15.

Kirilenko accepted the Nets’ offer a day after the team’s proposed deal with Bojan Bogdanovic fell through. The Nets originally hoped to land Kyle Korver using the same salary slot, but Korver took a more lucrative offer to stay with the Atlanta Hawks.
