Sneaker lineups for limited releases are nothing out of the ordinary. With more people willing to shell out $100+ dollars for sneakers, sportswear companies are very aware that there are big bucks to be mae from high-priced sneakers.
One person took the passion others have for limited footwear as an opportunity to make a come up by robbing everyone at the lineup. That idea, along with a well equipped patron, is what ended up leading to his death.
This past weekend in front of WISH sneaker boutique in Atlanta, someone attempted to hold up the entire lineup at gunpoint outside of the store early in the morning before the release of the denim LeBron X EXT. Instead of making way with a few thousand dollars, someone in line with a concealed weapon permit let off a single shot at the would-be robber who ran a few yards before collapsing.
The EXT version of the Nike LeBron X, like the ‘Cork’ LeBron X, was made with casual wearing in mind. Materials used include denim & full-grain leather which weren’t used on this shoe with performance basketball in mind, so these kicks appealed more to self-proclaimed ballers instead of those who actually play basketball. MSRP for the LeBron X EXT Denim with the pink midsole was $180.
Let this be a lesson to those thinking holding up a sneaker lineup is a good idea.
It ain’t all sweet out here.
