Flopping is a key part of the NBA today. The sooner we acknowledge that, the better off we will be. Despite the anti-flopping rules, I can’t say there was a significant decrease. Floppers will always be floppers because it’s a part of their basketball skillset.
Dirk Nowitzki realizes this and doesn’t think we’ll ever get rid of it in the game. He’s probably right, as it seems to get worse each year.
“We’re never going to get rid of it,” Nowitzki said recently, according to The Dallas Morning News. “But you got to limit it. It’s part of sports. It’s part of winning. Some people are smart and do a little extra thing to kind of sell the call. To me, that’s part of sports.”
