Throughout the entire month, Deron Williams wore the ‘Memphis’ colorway of the Nike Air Penny V which features a mostly blue upper to show his support for the cause. Teaming up with Autism Speaks on April 6th, Williams hosted the first Autism Awareness Night inside of the Barclays Center the same day he put up 32 with 6 assists in a Brooklyn Nets win. That pair is being auctioned off with the proceeds going to autism research.
For those unaware, April is known to many as Autism Awareness Month where the color blue seen around last month served as a reminder of the affliction.
Deron, along with his wife Amy, started the POINT OF HOPE foundation to which help raise funds not only for different autism programs, but they provide aid to single mother organizations & Boys & Girls Clubs as well as scholarships.
Current bidding for a game-worn ‘Memphis’ Air Penny V that Deron Williams also autographed is at $500 at the time of posting with the auction scheduled to end May 23rd at 7 PM EST.
