Clippers Fire Coach Vinny Del Negro

A few weeks ago, it was rumored that Clippers owner Donald Sterling was high on Vinny Del Negro and would retain him as coach. However, with the prospect of Chris Paul potentially bolting the Clippers this summer (as unlikely as that is), the team had to do what was perceived to be what Paul wanted. It isn’t confirmed that CP3 wanted Del Negro gone, but that’s exactly what has happened.

The Clippers may add a piece or two this summer which would make them even more interesting. They’ll need an experienced, savvy coach to go along with that.

The Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly decided against renewing the contract for head coach Vinny Del Negro, less than three weeks after the team suffered a disappointing 4-2 first round exit in the playoffs at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Del Negro was hired by the Clippers to be the head coach in July 2010 and took the team to its first division title in franchise history this season with a 56-26 record (.683).
