Warriors Broke Franchise Record for Efficient Shooting in Win Over Nuggets

It’s amazing in the NBA playoffs how fast the winds can change direction. The last couple days everyone was talking about how Denver was going to walk away with this round one series against Golden State now that star forward David Lee was out for the remainder.

Then the Warriors last night show up and shoot the lights out, and dominate the Nuggets. And when I say shoot the lights out, I mean ridiculous shooting percentages as a team…

“They were knocking down shots,” Denver’s Andre Iguodala said in an understatement.

Better than they ever had before in a playoff game, with a franchise playoff-record 64.6 percent (51-of-79) from the field.

“We are a very good shooting basketball team,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. “We’ve got guys that can knock down shots. You talk about Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, in my opinion, they’re the greatest shooting backcourt in the history of the game.” (via ESPN)

Think about this. If Andre Miller doesn’t hit that late game shot against the Warriors in Game One of this series, the Warriors would be up 2-0, and heading back home looking to hold home court for a sweep. Crazy.

One of the more interesting things about the Warriors solid play in the first two games of this series, are where they have done it. The Denver Nuggets were an NBA Best 38-3 record when playing at home in the regular season. People often talk about how hard it is to play in Denver because of the altitude adjustment, but when you combine that with the raucus crowd at the Pepsi Center it’s not a very welcoming environment as a visitor to start a playoff series.

But the Warriors fought through it, had a near miss in Game One, and completely dominated the Nuggets in Game Two. If they can hold home court, this series just got real.
