Bulls’ Kirk Hinrich Out Game 5 vs. Nets With Bruised Calf

The Chicago Bulls are the walking wounded. Well actually, they’re not special. It seems as if the entire NBA is these days. Derrick Rose is still on the fence and Joakim Noah has battled through a bad foot. And it looks like the Bulls will be without Kirk Hinrich tonight as they try to close out the Nets.

Hinrich has played a vital role this series for Chicago, but he will sit out game 5 due to a bruised right calf.

Chicago Bulls starting point guard Kirk Hinrich will miss Monday’s Game 5 against Brooklyn because of a bruised left calf and entered the morning shootaround in a walking boot, meaning he could be sidelined longer.

“It’s real disappointing,” Hinrich said. “You never want to miss playoff games.”

A source said Hinrich’s MRI, which was first reported by the Tribune, revealed no tear in his left calf muscle. However, the bruise is severe enough that missing the rest of the week “is a real possibility,” the source said.

I’m assuming this means instead of acting as a catalyst off the bench for the Bulls again, Nate Robinson will need to be a catalyst in the starting lineup to close out the Nets.
