Who knows what’s going on with the Charlotte Bobcats. They can’t seem to get out of their own way sometimes. Last year when they had a coaching vacancy, it was widely believed that it would’ve been in the best interest of Michael Jordan and the franchise to make a splash with a big name. Instead, they hired Mike Dunlap who hardly anybody heard of.
Today, Dunlap was fired after just one season and a 21-61 record. You can’t completely blame the coach because it’s not as if the roster is impressive.
So, who’s next for Jordan and the Bobcats? (*cough* Patrick Ewing).
The Bobcats went 21-61 under Dunlap, finishing with the second-worst record in the NBA ahead of only the Orlando Magic. Charlotte won just seven games in the strike-shortened 2011-12 season, but tripling last year’s victory total and a three-game winning streak to close the season weren’t enough to save Dunlap’s job.
Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins said a search for a replacement will begin immediately.
