In 2013, there are very few original Air Jordan colorways that are left to Retro for the first time; at that isn’t a bad thing. What makes classic colorways classic depends a lot on the time those sneakers were released. Looking to progress, Jordan Brand puts a spin on an original Air Jordan for the new Air Jordan 5 – ‘Black Grape’.
Essentially, this is the ‘Grape’ Jordan V with a black suede material constructing the upper instead of white leather. All other color blocking like the purple midsole & tongue with teal accents on the lining of the tongue as well as the shark teeth and Jumpman carry over onto this sneaker. As with all Air Jordan Retro sneakers with clear outsoles, the new compound used to make the icy sole isn’t fully translucent; it is tinted blue to help prevent the panels from turning yellow after repeated wears.
The ‘Black Grape’ comes just one month after the original ‘Grape’ Jordan V (can I call them the “white grape Jordans” now) returns for its second Retro release just one month before in May.
On June 1st, the ‘Black Grape’ Air Jordan V (5) hits retailers for $160.
