We’ve seen some wacky things happen on the hardwood over the years like when Nate Robinson once shot and scored in the wrong basket as a member of the NY Knicks.
Then there was the time that some irate fans decided to light and launch M-80 explosives at some incompetent referees, doing a bang-up job in the Greek League Finals a few years ago.
One of the oddest things we’ve ever seen here at THD is when an annoying fan in Europe decided to climb the goalpost and perch himself atop the backboard to cheer on his favorite squad.
And who could forget about all of those drop-down, drag-out brawls that took place recently overseas, like when Georgetown mixed it up vs China in an exhibition game last Fall and this battle royale slugfest that went down in between Kuwait and Bahrain two Summers ago.
There must be something in the water overseas as we bring you yet another odd happening on the court, this time from France.
With the game tied and only seconds remaining, a coach apparently wasn’t at all happy with his team’s defense on former Lehigh University standout Austen Rowland, as the former Patriot League POY positioned himself in the corner for a potential game winning shot.
But instead of witnessing a game-winner, fans watched as the opposing coach decided to take matters in his own hands by swiping the ball away from Rowland with under a second remaining. As a result, officials issued the coach a technical foul, as the other team’s best shooter calmly sank 2 free throws to take home the win….
