Clippers Are Not Trying To Acquire Garnett

Earlier this week Sporting News ‘sources’ stated that the LA Clippers reached out to the Boston Celtics about acquiring Kevin Garnett. The rumor had it that the Clippers were offering point guard Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler. Today the LA Times has their own ‘sources’ in the NBA who spoke on the condition of anonymity about the rumor. Apparently, the Clippers at no point were seeking a deal to acquire Garnett.

Furthermore, the Clippers’ front office has not had any conversations with Boston’s front office about a rumored deal in which L.A. would use back-up point guard Eric Bledsoe and small forward Caron Butler as the centerpieces to acquire Garnett, said the officials.

Bledsoe is the starting point guard while Chris Paul remains out with a bruised right kneecap that has kept him out of 10 of the last 12 games and will sideline him again Monday night against the Washington Wizards.

Although Chris Paul shouldn’t be out for too much longer with his bruised knee cap, the Clippers are not likely to move their backup point guard before finding out about Chris Paul’s long term plans in the offseason. But then again, stranger things have happened in the NBA leading up to the trade deadline.
