When we found out that Carmelo Anthony was looking for Kevin Garnett after the most recent Knicks-Celtics game, we knew the league would take action. Anthony was waiting for KG by the Celtics locker room, then again by the team bus. Melo and KG got involved in some trash talking towards the end of the game and KG apparently said something to ‘Melo that set him off. KG is certainly capable of that. Just ask Charlie Villanueva. Carmelo’s penalty is a one-game suspension.
Garnett, who was not suspended, apparently insulted Carmelo’s wife La La Vasquez during the game, causing the Knicks’ star to seek out the Boston big man outside the Celtics’ locker room and then by the Celtics’ team bus.
“There are no circumstances in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game,” NBA executive VP Stu Jackson said. “Carmelo Anthony attempted to engage with Kevin Garnett multiple times after Monday’s game, and therefore a suspension was warranted.”
