With all due respect to former Stanford standouts Brook and Robin Lopez and Kansas stars Marcus and Markieff Morris, the Class of 2013’s Houston based Harrison twins will undoubtedly be the most potent pair of brothers to enter the college ranks in decades.
The nation’s top rated prep point guard Andrew Harrison is the #2 overall prospect in the senior class while twin brother Aaron is the top rated shooting guard. Aaron is ranked #4 overall by most scouting services but unbelievably sometimes gets overshadowed by his floor general brethren.
The twins really started to get noticed during their junior seasons as they starred in the 2011 Elite 24 game with Andrew being named co-MVP of the 2012 game. With both being so highly touted, some lucky school will be getting an explosively talented and entirely new starting backcourt as they have said all along that when it comes to recruiting they will be a package deal.
The top two HS guards in the country will announce their college decision this evening at 5 p.m. on ESPNU’s Recruiting Nation program. The frontrunners for their services have been narrowed down to 3 schools Kentucky, Maryland, and SMU.
While the twins have already visited Kentucky twice, including their 2011 Big Blue Madness, they have family ties to Maryland, and have also somehow allowed new SMU coach Larry Brown to woo them as the Mustangs join the Big East in ’13-’14.
The Wildcats have been the early favorites but Terrapin coach Mark Turgeon just made a recruiting trip to Texas to see the Harrisons last week and have another in-home visit planned on Wednesday just prior to their announcement.
