By 1999, the Nike Innovation Kitchen was in full tilt mode being…well…innovated. Looking at the Air Flightposite it was easy to see that the ideas on what would make a good basketball sneaker has evolved so much in such a short period of time.
Inspired by concept cars and 17th-century British figure drawings, one of the goals of the Flightposite was to achieve bio-mechanics streamlining. You could see the Foamposite One inspiration throughout this sneaker in the tooling with updated features like a zipper replacing conventional shoe laces. The space between the sneaker and wearer became that much smaller. The Air Flightposite is a huge jump in advancement for the Flight line.
