It is always commendable when an athlete who left school early, goes back and finishes their degree because it’s not as if they need the money. But how about a 51-year old hall of famer? This has to be a first. Bravo to Isiah.
Yes, the NBA Hall of Famer is in Berkeley — just don’t expect the 51-year-old to be lacing up the high tops for Mike Montgomery and the Golden Bears this winter.
Thomas is enrolled in graduate school, about 10 units shy of completing his masters degree in Cal’s school of education.
“He’s been here for a while,” said Mohamed Muqtar, who who works in the students services office for Cal athletics and had lunch Wednesday with Thomas and Counting Crows front man Adam Duritz, a long-time Cal booster. “He’s very sharp. I really like him a lot. He’s got a lot of good ideas.”
