Source: Bulls Seeking to Sign Nash or Kidd

Derrick Rose went down in the first round of this years playoffs with a devastating knee injury that the medical profession is expecting to keep him sidelined for most if not all of next season. The best case prognosis is that he could return in 8 months to a year.

After watching the Bulls collapse to the 8th seeded Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs, it was obvious just how important Rose is to the team. So rather than write off another season, the Bulls plan to get aggressive at pursuing a high caliber replacement point guard. And they are hoping to do so with either the veteran minimum, or somewhere close to it, in order to stick to their budget. There are only two point guards who fit that bill on the ‘high caliber’ side of things. Steve Nash and Jason Kidd. Both of which may relish the opportunity for a championship in the late stages of their careers…

While the front office may seek out minimum-salary veterans at several positions, including point guard, a source tells CSNChicago.com that the Bulls will take a run at future Hall of Famers Steve Nash and Jason Kidd in free agency, trying to convince the former All-Stars that they will have an opportunity to win a championship, of which Kidd has one, from last season with the Mavericks, and Nash has none, in Chicago.
