James Harden played less than stellar in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. His shooting percentage in the last couple of games was terrible, he didn’t seem to be himself defensively, and he just seemed out of place. But that wasn’t the case all season long as Harden was one of the key reasons for the Thunder’s success.
Harden’s finals performance has set off a flurry of questions about Harden’s future with the team. Many believe the Thunder would be better off trading Harden this summer to ensure they get value out of such a move before Harden can either walk in free agency to the highest bidder, or saddle OKC with an inflated contract based on matching his salary on his potential market value.
This weekend Harden was doing his damnedest to put out the fire, and assure everyone that he will be getting his contract extension with the Thunder, and that he has no intentions of leaving OKC….
“They’ll do a pretty good job of working it out,” Harden said. “I’m focused on several other things right now. But when the time is (right), they’ll figure it out and it’ll be done.”
Harden went on and on about how much chemistry the players on the Thunder have, their camaraderie, and most importantly that he believes the young Thunder core is an NBA dynasty in the making…
“This is something special here,” Harden said. “A dynasty is being built here. So we’re winning, we’re having fun and we’re brothers. The other stuff, you can’t buy it.”
