We’re not exactly sure when Magic became the male version of Oprah Winfrey, but it’s apparent that is the case. Since retiring from the NBA, Magic has been the consummate businessman. But even this seems like alot for him. Wow, a TV network?
Following in the footsteps of Oprah Winfrey, Magic Johnson is the latest celebrity to launch their own cable network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The network will be called Aspire and will feature original shows, movies, and documentaries. Like TV One and Centric, this channel will target the African-American community and will be available via Comcast starting this summer.
“African-Americans have choices, and now they have another one,” said Johnson, whose goal is to create a new BET and open up opportunities for Black actors, directors, and producers.
