Shaq’s Newest Gig is Announcer on NBA Jam: On Fire Edition

October 17, 2011 – Allen Moll

Future Hall of Fame big man Shaquille O’Neal ultimately decided to call it quits following the 2010-2011 season. “The Big AARP” quickly quieted any rumors of his plans after basketball by promptly signing a deal with Turner Broadcasting to be part of the TNT pre and post game crew along with Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson.

We unfortunately will have to wait to see Shaq’s TNT debut because of the Lockout but the entertaining big man has taken his many comedic talents to youtube, making humorous videos covering many different topics like fake karate skits, Jackass-like stunts, and riding in tiny pink cars on Conan O’Brien.

In conjunction with EA Sports release of the newest NBA Jam title, appropriately dubbed the On Fire Edition, the gaming giant took some fan submissions on Facebook to put together what game-play would be like with Shaq putting his own spin as announcer.

If you’ve ever wrinkled up a piece of paper at your desk job and your inner brain whispered “Boom-shaka-laka” as the paper hit the bottom of the wastebasket, NBA Jam has had some sort of affect on your life.

After watching this video, you will forever think of Shaq saying “He’s now in Shaq-Apulco” and “Boom Shaqa-Shaqa”
