Blake Griffin Is a Superhero Addicted To Subway Sandwiches

July 27, 2011 – Allen Moll

Last season’s NBA Rookie of the Year and Slam Dunk Champion Blake Griffin has become one of the Association’s most marketable stars. He’s the newest poster boy for Kia and Subway to name a few. I guess dunking over a car is as good of a job interview as any to become a superstar car company endorser?

With the NBA officially in a Lockout, Blake has been busy off the court, working hard at improving his brand and increasing his star power. Earlier this calendar year we were one of the first to inform you that Griffin has been tabbed to replace MJ in the once wildly popular Mars Blackmon/Nike commercials.

He then starred in the initial episode of the new The Sports Show starring SNL alum Norm McDonald on Comedy Central. He also has become a regular guest on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and on Conan.

By now you are all probably sick of seeing Blake in all those annoying Subway commercials, where Griffin tells you to “Eat Fresh”, but in yet another venture sparked by Subway, Griffin now stars alongside Superman, Batman, and the Green Lantern in the newest edition of DC Comics’ Justice League.

Griffin partners with Nascar’s Carl Edwards as a superhero that gets sidetracked on his way to a “Dunk Show” by making an impromptu stop at Subway because, get this, they are addicted to Subway’s new avocado and turkey subs. Cheesy I know.

The crime-fighting duo somehow gets sidetracked from eating their subs by some evil-doing gorillas and partner with the legendary Superman and the Green Lantern to fend off the angry monkeys. In a bit of irony, Blake uses his shooting skills, instead of his insane dunking prowess, to eventually get the best of those low down dirty apes.

If this acting thing or NBA gig doesn’t work out or this NBA Lockout thing drones on for a while, Blake obviously has a future as a handyman.
