There are plenty of reasons why the Cavs should take Kryie Irving with the first pick and plenty of reasons why they shouldn’t. But with the draft taking place next week Thursday, I’d say this is a good indication that Cleveland will in fact take him #1 overall.
Irving is a point guard out of Duke and the probable No. 1 pick in next week’s NBA draft. The Cavs own that pick (along with No. 4) and Irving seems confident they will use it on him.
For the second time since declaring for the draft, he indicated the Cavs are the lone team for which he will conduct an individual workout.
“I’ve talked to a few teams, mainly teams in the top five,” Irving told FOX Sports radio in Charlotte on Tuesday. “But I’ve only worked out for the Cleveland Cavaliers. That’s the only team I’m mostly going to work out for.”
