Jason Kidd, the future Hall of Fame point-guard and 2011 NBA Champion Dallas Maverick, has officially accepted his invitation to compete in the 2011 American Century Championship Celebrity Golf Tournament at Lake Tahoe this July.
The 54-hole tournament will broadcast nine hours of live coverage on VERSUS (Friday, July 15th 4-7 PM et) and NBC Sports (3-6 PM et on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17th).
Since being drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 1994, Kidd has played 16 seasons in the NBA with the Mavericks, Suns and Nets. He has been an All-Star 10 times, and his 11,578 career assists rank him second in league history, solidifying his status as one of the best point guards to ever play the game. This year marks Kidd’s first ever NBA Championship, after losing in The Finals two times during his career with the Nets.
This year will mark Kidd’s 9th time playing in the $600,000 tournament, finishing 63rd in last summer’s competition, and having his best finish in 2000 when he placed 56th. Harrah’s Tahoe Sports book has listed his odds of winning this year’s championship at 200-to-1. Further information on the tournament can be found here.
