All last Summer, European phenom Ricky Rubio was the talk of the NBA after being selected #5 by Minnesota in last year’s NBA Draft. The Hoop Doctors jumped right on the Rubio bandwagon as well, by running a number of pieces like when we showed you Ricky’s new Gillete commercial. After all, what’s not to like about his amazing handles and creative play-making skills that undoubtedly 
would have made him a crowd favorite from game one in Minnesota? Before he even played an NBA minute, he was getting compared to the great “Pistol” Pete Maravich for his penchant for dramatic, on the fly no look and wrap around passes.
But his NBA debut was put on hold when he couldn’t work a buy-out of his contract in the Euroleague. We probably won’t get to see him for another season since his buy-out price with FC Barcelona drops considerably after the ’10-’11 season. At that point, the Timberwolves would still own his rights for another season.
