NBA All Star Weekend was pretty much a dud with Saturday’s events leaving us wanting more. Even the actual game seemed to lack it’s usual blend of highlight reel moments and 4th quarter comebacks we are used to. While it’s true that a number of stars put in some memorable performances like Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, and Carmelo Anthony, the whole weekend just seemed to be missing something. That something was an appearance by 15 time All Star and last year’s MVP, Shaquille O’Neal.
For only the 2nd time in the past 12 seasons, Shaq was not voted in as a participant in the All Star festivities. He has given us a number of entertaining moments, like most recently, his performance with the Jabba-wockees during last year’s player introductions.
Like the rest of us, Shaq was resigned to watching the game, albeit in person from the court-side. After watching a performance by Latin superstar Shakira, O’Neal had a fantastic idea of attempting to meet with the pop star beauty and ask her to be his Valentine. In one of the arena suites, Shaq pulled some strings and arranged a meeting between the two and offered Shakira some roses for a kiss in return.
Shaq puckered up and closed his eyes in anticipation of a smooch from his new Valentine, except she stepped away and TNT’s Craig Sager stepped in and completed the act!
